Artist Statement

My artistic practice investigates the intricate and dynamic interrelationship between humans and the natural world. My early work concentrated on the effects of human activity on the natural world, emphasizing issues such as urbanization, environmental degradation, and the vulnerability of ecosystems to human influence. I aimed to evoke contemplation on our obligations to the environment and confront viewers with the repercussions of our collective actions through visual narratives. But lately, my focus has changed. I have grown more interested in the natural world's tenacity—its capacity to withstand, adapt, and even reclaim areas that were previously dominated by human presence—rather than just chronicling the effects of humans on the environment. This change has given my work new thematic directions, enabling me to investigate ideas of rebirth, cohabitation, and the silent ability of nature to endure hardship. In my opinion, motifs that relate to this transition include moss-covered abandoned buildings, tree roots poking through concrete, and wildflowers sprouting in forgotten areas. I work in a variety of media, such as ceramics, mixed media, textile art, and digital illustration. I can convey the organic and complex nature of the subjects I study thanks to this variety of materials. Every medium provides a unique perspective that allows me to depict the conflict—and sometimes balance—between the natural and the man-made. I want to make art that makes people think about how we coexist with nature and what it might mean to restore some of its space by combining textures, colors, and forms that are influenced by natural settings. My practice ultimately stems from a profound respect for the silent perseverance of nature and a never-ending curiosity about our place in its constantly changing landscape.
